A Xeriscape demonstration garden volunteer day will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Riverside Nature Center in Animas Park off Browning Parkway in Farmington. Volunteers are asked to bring their favorite tools and their own gloves while learning about herbs, native plants and low-water landscaping. Call 505-599-1422.

A printed pattern etching and cutting on metal workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Three Rivers Art Center, 123 W. Main St. in Farmington. Students will be able to finish pieces in class or take home components to use later. The workshop fee is $70, and students should bring eye protection and magnifying glasses, if desired. The Teen Movie Monday series continues at 4 p.m. Monday with a free screening of "Tremors" in the Teen Zone at the Farmington Public Library, 2101 Farmington Ave. The 1990 film stars Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Finn Carter and Reba McEntire. Education specialist Donna Thatcher leads the Tuesday Birding session from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Riverside Nature Center in Animas Park off Browning Parkway in Farmington. A walk of 1 to 2 miles through Animas and Berg parks is featured, and participation is free. Call 505-599-1422.

Dr. Andrea Cooper will present a lecture on how anthropologists have recognized the needs to re-enfranchise indigenous people in response to historical actions at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Room 7103 of the Information Technology Center on the San Juan College campus, 4601 College Blvd. in Farmington.
