FARMINGTON — The Bloomfield City Council will hear a presentation about the preliminary engineering report for replacing the wastewater treatment plant during its 6 p.m. Monday meeting at Bloomfield City Hall, 915 N. 1st St.
The wastewater treatment plant was built in 1978 and is in poor condition, according to the agenda packet.
A preliminary engineering report was prepared in 2009. According to a report in the council agenda packet, a combination of factors, including the economic downturn, led to the plan not being implemented. Since then, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued an administrative order requiring the city to complete a new preliminary engineering report. The city began work on the updated report last year.
Wastewater is also on the agenda for Aztec City Commission. The City Commission meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Aztec City Hall, 201 W. Chaco St.
Aztec has the opportunity to refinance a loan that it used to pay for the sewer outfall line. More than $3.2 million remains on the $5 million loan. The commission will discuss refinancing during a work session prior to the 6 p.m. meeting. The work session will begin at 5 p.m. with discussion about an overlay district for North Main Avenue.
While Aztec and Bloomfield will discuss wastewater, the Farmington City Council will have a closed executive session at the end of its meeting to discuss contract negotiations for a firm that would work on a regional bicycle and pedestrian plan. It will also discuss hiring a legal consultant to represent the city in regard to the potential closure of the San Juan Generating Station.
The Farmington City Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Farmington City Hall, 800 N. Municipal Drive.
The Kirtland Town Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at 47 County Road 6500.
The Aztec Municipal School District School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the AMSD central office board room.
The Bloomfield Municipal School District School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Bloomfield School District office board room. The board will consider making revisions to the district's tobacco use policy for students, staff and the public.
The Central Consolidated School District Board of Education will have a work session at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Shiprock Board Room.
