The City of Bloomfield will host the Fourth Annual Fifth of July Fireworks Display on July 5 at the Chamblee Soccer Complex on South First Street. The fireworks display is held on the fifth of July, to enable San Juan County residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the Freedom Days fireworks on July 3 and Tommy Bolack’s display on July 4th. “We like to think we saved the best for last,” Eckstein said with a smile, adding the Bloomfield display has been described by the city’s Facebook followers as the best in the Four Corners. The fireworks are ignited from the Foutz & Bursum gravel pit, which is on the bluff overlooking the Riverwalk Park, along the San Juan River. Vendors, games and music will begin at 5 p.m. July 5 at the soccer fields, with the fireworks display beginning about 9:15 p.m.
“We’re grateful for the sponsors and individuals who have been generous with their donations and their help in putting this event on for the citizens of Bloomfield and for our friends throughout San Juan County and the Four Corners,” Mayor Eckstein said. “The city is proud to offer a family fun and family-friendly event to celebrate our nation’s birthday.” The 2017 major sponsors of the display include San Juan County, Industrial Ecosystems, Inc., SunRay Park & Casino, Wagner CAT, Largo Tank & Equipment, Halo Services, Alpha Omega Accounting, Adobe Contractors, San Juan Regional Medical Center, Souder, Miller and Associates, Wells Fargo Bank Bloomfield Branch, High Desert Safety, and WPX Energy. Individuals who have also gave donations for the event include Patty Bowers, Dorothy Brown, Craig and Linda Corwin, Jerrold and Julia Crockford, Richard and Kay Eckstein, Scott and Tonya Eckstein, Rose Gonzales, Edward and Lecia Israel, and Thomas Johnson. Our 10th Annual San Juan River Balloon Rally was wonderful! We were blessed with great weather – and all events were successful. Friday was Event Sponsor and Media Day there were 13 balloons in the air over the San Juan River. Mass Ascension on Saturday had 18 balloons! The air was literally filled with balloons. Thanks to our great pilots and our sponsors we had a successful rally. The balloon glow was awesome – sixteen balloons glowed, the weather was perfect and the crowds had a great time! Sunday we had unusual wind currents – and the balloons went east and up the San Juan River. One balloon even landed on the BHS Baseball field. We had glorious weather for the entire weekend. All the balloons launched and we had a wonderful ride down the San Juan River.
A huge thank you to our Major Sponsors – WPX, the City of Bloomfield, SunRay Park and Casino and Country Gas. Event Sponsors were K & C Transport, Independence Capital, Wagner Equipment, Bank of the Southwest, Wooden Nickel, San Juan Regional Medical Center and Holiday Inn Express. Saturday’s flight sponsors were Gwen Alston, Citizens Bank, Wells Fargo, Kozi Homes, RA Biel Plumbing, Serious Texas BBQ, Alpha Duran, Senator Steve Neville, Commissioner Margaret McDaniel, DJ’s Pizza, Rasor Consulting, MRC Global, Bloomfield Fire Department and Western Refining. Other sponsors include Farmer’s Market, Farmington Fire and Sam’s Club. Thank you everyone – this was a huge event for the Chamber and we could not have done this without your support! See you next year!
